Vancouver Community College – Broadway
Suited to those looking to study in a bustling urban setting, Vancouver Community College (VCC) is British Columbia’s largest and oldest community college. Two of its campuses, Broadway and Downtown, are nestled in the heart of Vancouver. A third is located south of the city on Annacis Island. VCC offers a comprehensive range of more than 120 programs, including certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, trades and apprenticeship training, academic upgrading, and continuing education. VCC does not have an on-campus residence option, but the students’ union maintains a housing registry.
On-campus facilities include a number of special facilities where VCC students offer discount services to the community while honing their skills. At the Downtown campus, hair design and skin and body therapy students run a salon and spa, dental assisting program students run a low-cost dental clinic for patients under 21, and culinary students cook up gourmet cuisine at JJ’s restaurant. Meanwhile, transportation trades students operate an auto shop at the Broadway campus, where they offer discount car repairs to VCC staff and students.
About eight per cent of VCC’s 22,000 students identify as Aboriginal. Services offered to Aboriginal students include counselling, confidential elder support, and program and application advising.
