Simon Fraser University sits atop Burnaby Mountain overlooking Vancouver and the very river that the university was named after. Simon Fraser University and the city of Burnaby offer a myriad of activities throughout the year and the fall season is no exception. Here is a quick glimpse of some of the activities and sights that are waiting for you in the city of Burnaby and around your SFU real estate.

Outdoors

The fall season is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy those brisk mornings and warm afternoons. The little bit of precipitation we have experienced over the past few weeks has brought some green back into the landscape, making now the perfect time to get out and enjoy a hike or two. Burnaby is just minutes away from the famous North Shore of Vancouver, and there you will find hikes of varying distance, skill level and difficulty. Contact the local visitor centre for more information about the trails of the North Shore Mountains. Remember to dress appropriately and always let someone know where you are going for safety reasons.

Now is also a great time to get out and do some bike riding. There are some great mountain biking trails that are built into Burnaby Mountain and exit near the campus of SFU. If a more leisurely paced ride is what you are looking for, there are great trails in and around the city of Burnaby and Vancouver. Again, contact your local visitor centre for more information about the bike trails, skill level and duration.

Indoors

Burnaby also is home to the largest shopping mall in British Columbia. The Metropolis at Metrotown offers shoppers moew than 450 stores, ten movie screens and the biggest food court in Canada. In addition to Metrotown, Burnaby also has two other major shopping malls at Brentwood Town Centre and Lougheed Town Centre. All of these shopping centres offer great services and shopping opportunities. On the next rainy and cold fall day, stop on by and see what you can find.

The Burnaby Museum always has something exciting going on. World Rivers Day is just around the corner. This event offers a wide array of activities for the whole family with a special salmon BBQ as its highlight. There are great kids’ activities, and while you are out at the museum, do not forget to take a ride on the original PNE carousel. It is sure to be a hit with kids — old and young alike.

Fall is always a great time to be in the lower mainland. With a plethora of outdoor and indoor activities to choose from, Burnaby and SFU are no exception. While in the area, be sure to check out some of the great real estate opportunities in and around SFU. Fall is also a great time to think about purchasing that dream home you have always wanted. The Burnaby Mountain/SFU area offers great homes in great neighbourhoods. Stop by one fall day and see for yourself why SFU real estate is right for you.
